Sometimes in this industry, clients become friends and it’s that much more special to be involved in their big milestones. Back in November, I had the privilege of photographing Sonny & Cindy’s St. Augustine wedding. (Along with their Taco Bell pitstop, bridal portraits, as well as their reception.) We hit every corner of STA over the course of the day and I had such a great time in the process!
I know it seems like a lot, but I encourage wedding clients to book 10+ hours on their big day. Why? Wedding days are jam packed from getting ready all the way to the end of the reception. Booking for this amount of time guarantees I don’t miss a thing and couples aren’t stressed for time. This was definitely the case for Sonny & Cindy and oh my goodness, did it pay off for them!
After getting ready for their big day in separate homes, they headed to a Catholic church in St. Augustine to exchange their vows. There’s something to be said about a traditional ceremony rooted in their faith in a beautiful church. The traditions are beautiful and so meaningful! It was touching to see Cindy’s father give her away, especially after seeing his reaction during their first look. These two are very family-oriented and their values were woven into their wedding day. I also love that they made their day their own!
In between the wedding and portraits, the newlyweds were famished. We made a pit stop to Taco Bell for them to grab a bite to eat. It was the coolest photo op! I can’t get enough of these two in their full glam wedding attire, sipping Baja Blasts! Realistically though, it’s sometimes a challenge for the bride & groom to actually have time to sit down and eat at their own receptions, so kudos to these two for thinking ahead!
As I mentioned previously, allotting 10+ hours with me means we have plenty of time to get gorgeous photos of the two of you all dolled up on your big day. We got some amazing drone shots of the map at World Golf Village. I love the unique perspective the drone offers. Magnolia Avenue was our second stop and you can’t convince me there’s anything more dreamy than the Spanish Moss canopy in this area! Honestly, the options for St. Augustine weddings and bridal portraits are endless!
Following their nuptials, the newlyweds moved the party to the Crystal Ballroom St. Augustine for their reception. There was so much love and laughter in the room, it was hard to narrow down the images for this post! Cindy switched out her heels for more Nikes and she & Sonny danced the night away with family and friends.
I love to see how creative couples can be with their reception details & I was a huge fan of their Jenga style guest book. They had props for guests to wear for photos throughout the evening and sunglasses, feather boas, and leis (all made an appearance on the dance floor too). Guests mingled and enjoyed the evening while an artist painted a portrait of the newlyweds. (How beautiful is that?!) Sonny & Cindy’s reception was one that no one wanted to see end.
Thank you again, Sonny & Cindy, for allowing me to be a part of your wedding. It’s been such a gift to get to know you and your family! I can’t wait to see what adventures lie ahead for you two in your marriage. Congratulations & best wishes!
