What Does Wedding Photography Coverage Include?
Wedding photography coverage refers to the total number of hours your photographer is present on your wedding day (or weekend), capturing everything from getting ready to your grand exit.
At Laura Perez Photography, I offer custom timelines based on what’s most important to you—emotion-filled moments, family heirlooms, portraits, dance floor memories, and all the sweet in-betweens.
The Most Common Photography Coverage Options
Here’s a general breakdown of how many hours couples book and what’s typically included:
6 Hours of Coverage
Best for: Elopements, intimate weddings, or single-location events
Includes:
- Ceremony
- Portraits of the couple
- Family formals
- Beginning of reception (first dance, toasts)
Ideal if: You’re having a small wedding or don’t need getting-ready or full reception coverage.
8 Hours of Coverage
Best for: Traditional weddings with multiple parts of the day covered
Includes:
- Getting ready photos
- Ceremony
- Portraits
- Family & wedding party photos
- Full reception (toasts, dancing, cake cutting, etc.)
This is our most popular package and a great fit for most wedding days in Jacksonville, St. Augustine, and destination venues.
10+ Hours of Coverage
Best for: Full wedding day storytelling or multi-location events
Includes:
- Full getting ready experience
- First looks (with partner, parents, or wedding party)
- Extended portrait time
- Full ceremony & reception
- Grand exit coverage (sparklers, bubbles, getaway car, etc.)
Ideal if: You want your full day captured from start to finish with zero rush, or if your venues are spread out.
Do You Need a Second Photographer?
Adding a second shooter ensures:
- Multiple angles of the ceremony
- More candid moments of guests
- Coverage of both partners getting ready
- Extra support during large family photo groupings
Most of my couples choose a second photographer when they have:
- Guest counts over 100
- Getting ready in two separate locations
- A strong focus on guest reactions, cocktail hour, or reception detail photos
How to Choose the Right Number of Hours
Here are a few guiding questions:
- Do you want getting ready photos (dress, details, candid moments)?
- Is your ceremony and reception at different locations?
- Will you have a first look?
- Do you want your exit captured?
- Is it important to photograph the décor before guests arrive?
- Are you doing private vows, a letter exchange, or gift exchange?
If you answered “yes” to most of these—you’ll likely need at least 8–10 hours.
